My little boy ( who is 2 ½ ) had a cockatiel that died the other day and we had a tough time trying to decide how to handle it. I don’t know what happened to the bird I think that a cat had a paw in the situation but I am not sure, I was only sure that it was about to die. See the last time he seen his bird it was still barely alive and on the bottom of the cage and I told my boy the bird was sleeping(He died before we could get him to the vet). The cage has been covered for the past two days (with no bird) because I told him that the bird was sick and needed to rest. Well in the end we decided not to say too much to him about it since it has been two days and he hasn’t missed it much. We got him a 5 gal fish tank with 4 fish to distract him till we could hopefully get another bird. If we don’t get him another bird or if he notices it is gone we still are not sure what we will tell him. We are still discussing the fate of the cats. We want to keep them but we are not supposed to have them in our apartment. We are trying to get a house so we can keep them. I am not much of a cat person in the first place but my wife and kid love ‘em. So we (they) really do not want me to get rid of them. Maybe we will get our house soon and we can make them outdoor cats (spayed of course).
